NO. For such situations one needs what is called a Bail-out-bag (BOB for short).
In this bag you must have things that can help you survive for at least three days, in case you must leave your household immediately. I know that if something happens and i only have a few minutes to get out of my house, i will not be running around the house like an idiot looking for things to take....no, i will not - it would be a complete waste of time, time that is putting your life at risk. I would be prepared and have my Bail-out-bag ready so i can leave the danger area rapidly.
Now, what does one need in a B.O.B,you ask?
Well, mine is very simple. So i will be showing you how to make a SIMPLE and BASIC bail-out-bag. It is so basic that even a 10 year old would be able to do this.
Picture 1: Here is my B.O.B, as you can see it is a normal backpack - 1 caribiner is attached to another small bag that you can see next to the backpack. This B.O.B is not too big nor too small. It is the perfect size.

Picture 2: Here is the other bag that is attached to the backpack. It contains a 3-way power, Am/Fm/NOAA/Shortwave Radio. There are three ways to power it: Crank it to use dynamo power, use solar panels, use batteries. It is Fm/Am allowing me to listen to local stations. It is also a NOAA enabled radio allowing me to listen to weather alerts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It is also shortwave enabled, allowing me to listen to shortwave stations(which include international stations from other countries). This radio also has 3 lights, a reading lamp strong enough to light up a room, a normal flashlight and an emergency red blinking light. This radio is Perfect for survival. IT IS SMALL and contains enough options to make it suitable for your Bail-out-bag.
I bought it from Amazon:

Picture 3: In the front small compartment of my backpack, i have random cheap things.
Lightsticks, pens and post-its™ (in case you need to write important information down.),a box cutter (to cut boxes of stored food or whatever.),Hand warmers, an emergency blanket. I have other stuff in there that is not shown in this picture since the battery died before i could photograph the other ones.

Picture 4: This picture shows you how it looks inside of the backpack.

Picture 5: Here you can see various things. A survival book, water-proof matches, ice pack, Victorinox army knife, Military Paracord(it has numerous uses) and a First Aid kit.

Picture 6: This is a bag of Aid. It contains gel for burns, pills for migraines, headaches, body pain and all that. Micropur Water purification tablets. Etc.

Picture 7: This is what is inside the First Aid Kit.
Gel for burns, latex gloves, various types of band-aids, Gauze, tweezers, etc etc.

I have to remind you that if you have a disease, add extra medication to your first aid bag. Allergy medicine, etc.
If you have diabetes add extra blood strips and other things you need as well.
If you have a baby, you must always have extra baby formula.
Add anything extra that is important to your own health needs. I am not allergic, diseased or anything like that... so that is why i do not have too many things.
A B.O.B must contain food, enough food to last for three days. Pack beef jerky, proteins bars or something similar in there. What i did was require my Mother and sister to have their OWN bail-out-bags, they will be almost copies of mine but with a couple of less things in them. Mine(the one shown in these photos) is the main B.O.B survival bag; theirs will be personal back-up B.O.B's. I ask you to do the same with your family. Each one of them must invest in their own survival in case of a disaster. If those you ask refuse to do so, then ignore them, you tried to warn them,so it is not your fault. Keep preparing even if certain family members deny and reject your advice.
Picture 8: Food storage.
Those 3 brown boxes contain enough canned foods to last an entire month. Tuna, spam, vegetables, fruits, salmon, beans are all included there. The oatmeal box of course is good for food storage.Powder milk. The rest of the food i have for storage is not shown here, there is more i could not show since the camera died.

You see. Preparation does not take a lot of space. The funny thing is that i am not even done preparing, i only showed you a part of my survival supplies. I still need more items for my Bail-out-bag, so what you saw here in these pictures....is only a small part of my survival preparations.
Read my blog post titled "The Hybrid Beast" to know what this is about.
I will repeat myself once more: Even if we do not experience a pandemic, we need to take advantage of this event to prepare ourselves for the future. This is your time to begin preparing. Time is running out. Always keep this saying in the back of your head: "Better safe than sorry".
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Remember, these are not the words of some Crazed conspiracy theorist living in a cave.
I am a normal 19 year old who is just using COMMON SENSE.
Do not be discouraged by people who are ignorant and make fun of you or think you are "crazy".
These same idiots will be the savages that will beg for food in the streets, their ignorance will come back to haunt them. When a disaster strikes and they beg you for help...let them die, let their ignorance take their life away. You need to take the steps to ensure the survival of yourself and family no matter what others think.
I found a small checklist in the government pandemic website. This checklist is good enough. See if you have what they ask you to have:
http://www.pandemicflu.gov/plan/individual/checklist.html
I will keep this blog updated daily for now,so keep coming back to read more about the Hybrid Flu. when my entire B.O.B is ready(probably should be done by this summer) i will post new photos, keep in mind i only showed you a bit this time, when i am done preparing this summer i will post the entire stuff i have. A lot of photos. And will also give you the links of where i bought my supplies and give you reviews of the items, etc.
Remember, use this virus outbreak event to your advantage.....this is the time to start preparing ; Do not let your stupidity and ignorance put your survival at risk.
